Even though this site is just getting started and there is still much to do, I want to know what you think. Are you glad we split our main site into two separate sites and devoted this one just for kids? Please say yes to this one. What would you like to see more of? How can we make it more “kid friendly”
We want to make this the best site on the Internet for teaching woodworking to kids. But it won’t happen without help for you! So let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Craig

I absolutely love this new look.I plan on using it for my Autistic grandson and do every project.I am always looking for projects he can do that he can use to make gifts for Mothers Day,Fathers Day and Christmas and birthdays from him.He will gain in confidence as well as the glow he gets from giving his parents something he has made.I am so looking forward to working on these projects with him as is my husband.Thank you.
Fantastic. I have grandkids that I will be working with/teaching so this is a great idea. I want to be on both e-mail lists. Thanks for the info you put out.
Hi Craig. well I think you have done a great thing here. I have been glancing through this kids site and I do believe that my 10 yr. old will be visiting it alot. It is very simple for him to use and the videos are an awesome tool. Keep up the good work and thankyou very very much. you have done a wonderful job.
many blessings to you.
This is a great site. I believe with an adults help a kid will learn al lot and get some good ideas.
It can also be good for the adult. I do not beileve I have ever seen a lesson on how to use a brace and bit. Good Idea.
Great idea: my kids too old but will be a good place to visit when I get some grandchildren
Hey Craig - great idea. Let me know if you want me to write some guests posts for the blog to help drive some visitors.
The boys are excited to have their own site.
What a great idea! I do the occasional wood repair and I learned a bit from the Bench Hook video!.
It’s good to get kids interested early.
Good Luck with your site. Alan
Keep the emphasis on hand tools, skill acquisition, and accomplishment. Our principal used a coping saw in first grade and she expects my students (7th & 8th grade) to use tactility and mental skills first since they have limited access to power tools. Never lessen the challenge, as they’ll rise to it. Always relate the skills to other subjects or facets of learning. I have a library of free plans and photos of North Carolina Architecture and household objects plus donated books and magazines to use as inspiration. Whether it’s wooden kitchenware or mission furniture one never knows what a student will take a liking to. Great decision to split sites.

Hey Craig,
Great kid’s website. I hope a lot of mothers and fathers find it and use it. I wish it would have been around when my kids were growing up(40 years ago).
I watched and download the folding chair video. My eleven year old granddaughter and her friend will be visiting again this summer. I plan to show them the video and see if they are interested in building something out of wood to take back home.
As you know, I have your book and will use that to generate interest also.
I don’t know where you find the time to do these videos, but I really appreciate them.
Thanks for sharing,

This is wonderful, Craig! I originally found your site while looking for help with teaching my Cub Scouts woodworking. I’ll be using your new site a lot with them. Thanks! Terri
This will be great for my 10-year-old who gets restless over the summer. Now he’ll get some training he needs! Thanks!
I think this is a great idea and look forward to the resources I will be able to use in our homeschooling journey. :0) My kids are 5, 3, and 1 at this time so beginner ideas will be wonderful!
Just wanted to say yes, love the kids site. I wanted something for my sons. I haven’t been able to find someone to help them learn woodworking or about using tools, their grandfather doesn’t live that close and I am a single mom. I plan on buying your book this summer.
I like that you show and explain everything so that I am able to help them.
Love the book and plan to build the stool with my 8 yr. old great-nephew this weekend. I’m sure his 10 yr. old brother will want to come for his weekend with us after he sees the results. Keep up the great work and thanks so much!
Dear Woodshop For Kids,
I love the idea of having kids build things with wood with their own hands. Wish I could get my grandson interested. Anyway, I have a design for a Thailand Spirit Bird Feeder that everyone thinks is nice and would make a nice addition to your kits or instructions. I can send you a copy of the finished bird feeder if you are interested. It would also give the kids a sense of where and what Thailand is.
thanks,
