About

I have always been interested in how things work and in making things with my hands. There’s just something extremely satisfying about building a tangible, useful item with your own two hands.  Woodworking is something that I’m very passionate about.  But it’s not always been that way.  I got “hooked” on woodworking when our daughter was first born, over 12 years ago.

This was, by the way, a long time after I was out of school, so I couldn’t go back and take a shop class.  Kids now are lucky to even have the opportunity to take shop in school because it’s been taken out of most school systems.  We homeschool our kids and took advantage of this situation to teach our kids life skills such as woodworking.

But, the information available for kids is limited to say the least.  I saw a problem with this and decided to come up a solution.  This website is dedicated to helping you teach your kids woodworking (and maybe a few other life skills).

We are honored that you have visited our website.  We hope that you will join the thousands of others who have signed up to receive free information in the form of videos and articles.  You can find the “Sign Up” box on our homepage.

We would love to hear from you.  Please send us your suggestions on how we can make this a better website for you, what else would you like to see, after all, this website is to help you!  Send us some pictures of you and your kid’s projects and we’ll post them in our newsletter and on the website.

Thanks, and we look forward to hearing from you.

Hi there. I found your website through a search for woodorking tools for children. I couldn’s find an email address on it to send you a message, so I am commenting instead and hoping this gets to you and that you might email me back.

I am a home preschooling our two and three year old and hope to homeschool them beyond that, too. Recently, they are showing a definitive interest in tools. Would your Woodshop 101 be appropriate for kids this young (and parents their who are less than handy with a tool, but wanting to learn to be) to start with, or is it aimed for older kids?

I would just order it with the money back to find out, but I don’t want to waste your time.

Thanks!
Martianne

I would like to know if you take any pre paid check orders for your book Woodshop 101 for kids. I would be interested in purchasing the book, if you do if you would send me the cost plus shipping I would be happy to send an advance check.

Thank you, K Nelson
Note: Your web page has some problems on the section covering products. Several things overlap each other through out the page.

Hi, I would like to purchase the book as a download but I only seem to be able to pay for the hardcopy. What step in the directions did I miss?
Thanks,

It is unclear what types of tools we would need to complete these projects. How many tools would we need? Where do we get the wood cut to certain sizes? Just wondering as I look into buying this book

Emily,

Thanks for your question, I thought I had already added the list of tools needed to get your kids started in woodworking! I just posted the list to the website.

Found this site when an ad for your book popped up on FaceBook. This is wonderful and I love your videos. Getting kids involved in woodworking is good way to give them a creative outlet. I’m especially happy to see some girls in your photos. I’m going to put a link to you on my website Woodworking With Lucy
Keep adding videos!

Thanks Lucy, I agree that too many kids never get a chance to develop their creativity. Too much time is spent in front of the TV. I went and checked out your website and like what I saw. Women not knowing much about woodworking might be intimated (although there is no reason for it) because of all the power tools. I like your approach in getting novice and women involved in woodworking. Keep up the good work!

Hi - your book sounds wonderful - are there any discounts available if purchased in larger quantities? I am a Cub Scout Den Leader and am interested in putting together some kits for the cubs to purchase. Three years ago I purchased several tool kits from Woodcraft - a product they no longer carry! - and am searching for something similar - to no avail. Do you have any resource that might cater to meeting the demographic of younger woodworkers in the hand tool department - particularly a kit with the basic tools for smaller hands. Woodcraft’s kit was perfect and the price was incredibly reasonable - and it would have worked perfect with your book!! Thanks in advance for any help you can send my way!

Dick,

You should have received a link when you got your download version. I’ll send you the link now, thanks for your purchase!
